Make them breakfast in bed- Get up a little bit earlier than normal- put something together and enjoy it in bed with your significant other. This will help them start the day in a better frame of mind if they are up, able to express last minute thoughts and full of good things to keep them going.

Kiss them goodbye- If you normally don't think you have time for this- make sure you do it. It only takes a moment and lets them know that you love them and looking forward to being together again.

Text them- When you get a break at work- send them a simple text saying 'I love you', 'thinking of you', 'looking forward to tonight' or 'miss you' -something positive- that lets them know you're there for them.

Find out when their lunchtime is- Take yours at the same time and give them a call- they may just need to talk to you to get through the afternoon's commitments.

Send them a happy email- If you think a text is too short to send what you're thinking or how you feel- send them an email. This might just give them a boost for the second half of the day.

Kiss them hello- Nothing says 'welcome home' like a big smooch from your partner.

Listen to them- Listen to what went on during their time away from you. They may need to get some things off their chest or ask your opinion about something so it's important to give them time to offload

Try to see things from their point of view- You may have different definitions for stress and hard work- but it means a lot to your partner that you can see it from their side of things. Put yourself in their shoes and try to understand why they are having such a difficult time of it.

Make them their evening meal- If they have a lot on their plate- chances are- they won't have the concentration or the energy to make something. Feed them so they have one less thing to worry about and try to eat it at the table to carry on the conversation.

Show them some affection at bed time- This doesn't have to mean sex, but snuggle up to them, give them a good night kiss so they know that all is good at home even if things aren't going to plan at work.
